Skógafoss waterfall is located in the south of Iceland to the former coasts of cliff.Seaside away towards the sea (now at a distance of about 5 km from the waterfall), a former reef remained parallel to the coast, combined with some hills clear boundary between the coastal lowlands and the highlands of Iceland.

Skógafoss is one of the biggest waterfalls of the country with a width of 25 m and hight of 60 m. According to legend, first Viking settler in the area, Þrasi Þórólfsson, treasure hid in a cave under a waterfall.

On the east side of the waterfall trail leading up to the Glacier Pass Fimmvörðuháls Eyjafjallajökull and Mýrdalsjökull.
